North End Meet & Eat + US Soccer!

The #USMNT has qualified for the World Cup in Qatar, while the #USWNT are readying themselves for WC and Olympic qualification in July.

There’s a lot to discuss! Join AO Boston in the North End at Ducali Pizzeria & Bar! Meet fellow AO Boston members, grab a slice of pizza, and a cold drink, and enjoy the Sunday afternoon. RSVP here.

This will coincide with the Juventus vs Venezia match on May 1st at 1:30pm that will hopefully feature a couple of Americans.

See you there!

Calling all Volunteers!

On Saturday, June 18th we are asking AO Boston members to step up and help Boston Score’s largest fundraising initiative of the year; the SCORES CUP!

Scores Cup is the largest corporate charity soccer tournament in the United States, bringing together 40 teams and 600 players from all over New England for the love of soccer, and supporting an amazing cause. All money raised will benefit after-school programming for Boston youth.

The volunteer positions needed are: set-up, registration, team support, field support, and breakdown.

  • 7:00am start time for set-up volunteers
  • 8:00am – 12:30pm for morning tournament volunteers
  • 12:00pm – 5:00pm for afternoon tournament volunteers
  • 3:30pm start time for breakdown volunteers (all volunteers who stay for breakdown will be able to attend the Revs II game at 7:00pm)

There are still more details to come, but if you are interested please email Chris Reid!

Parlor Sports, the new home of AO Boston #USWNT Watch Parties

Big news out of AO Boston Headquarters this week, as we have officially inked a deal with Parlor Sports in Somerville to host all #USWNT watch parties moving forward! The partnership will begin with the two upcoming friendlies vs Uzbekistan on Saturday, and Tuesday, and will continue into the Summer for the W Championship. This summer is huge for the US Women’s National Team as they hope to qualify for the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics. Join us for the upcoming matches:

Saturday 4/9 at 5:30pm
Tuesday 4/12 at 7pm

When the Women’s World Cup comes around in 2023 AO Boston will have watch parties at both Parlor Sports and the Banshee Pub!

USMNT = QUALIFIED

The #USMNT has qualified for the 2022 World Cup. The group stage is set. Life is good, and the countdown to November has begun. We’ll be rocking the Banshee Pub as we did in 2010 and 2014.  Are you ready?!

AO Boston certainly will be. In the next few weeks, we hope to hold a World Cup 2022 planning session.  Where we hope to discuss the introduction of some new merch for all, maybe a new logo, and more!  If you have any merch or design ideas, please send them our way at email@aoboston.us

In the meantime, make sure to pick up an AO Boston or AO New England scarf before they officially sell out!

CONCACAF Nations League = LOVE

It’s official. We are obsessed with the CONCACAF Nations League. The #USMNT has drawn El Salvador and Grenada. The tournament will be taking place throughout this year, and next.

The USMNT will host Grenada on June 10th, and then visit El Salvador on June 14th. The squad will also play two home friendlies before the Nation League matches. Venues TBD.

Make sure to jump on the bandwagon of the greatest tournament this world has ever seen!

An end of an era…

Join AO Boston at the Banshee tonight for the final #USMNT World Cup Qualifying match of this cycle, and help us punch an automatic ticket to Qatar. (All we have to do is not lose by more than 6 goals – although, we’re thinking: 3 points!) With the US as co-hosts in 2026, and with the tournament growing to 48 teams in 2030, this will be the last time we’ll see this type of drama/chaos/heartache in qualifying.

It does not get better than this, so we hope to see you tonight!  We’ll be downstairs at the Banshee. Banshee Trivia will be beginning at 7pm tonight and ending right before kick-off at 9pm!

Also: make sure to re-up your American Outlaws membership before the Men’s World Cup, and help grow the beautiful game that you love!

Rumour has it that there will be a free raffle for all AO members!

Marching to Qatar…

Well, it’s almost here…. arguably the most important WCQ cycle in USMNT’s history finally comes to a close (let’s not even think about a playoff for now) with a critical home match to Panama sandwiched between difficult away trips to Mexico and Costa Rica.

If you’re lucky enough to be attending any of these games in person, have fun and be loud (and be sure to let us know, so we can grab an AO Boston group photo). If not, please feel free to be equally loud and join us at The Banshee! RSVP through Facebook today! Here are the dates and times as a reminder:

Mexico vs USMNT – 3/24 at 10pm EST
USMNT vs Panama – 3/27 at 6:30pm EST
Costa Rica vs USMNT – 3/30 at 9:05pm EST

USWNT April Goal Showers

The USWNT will be playing a pair of friendlies against Uzbekistan in early April in Philly and Columbus (we’re thinking a lot of goals will be scored). If you’re planning to attend either of these matches, please let us know as we’re looking to have our new banner hung up in the stadium.

If not, join us at The Banshee.

USWNT vs. UZB – 4/9 at 5:30pm
USWNT vs. UZB – 4/12 at 7:00pm

New Leadership!
First and foremost, we’d like to thank Fran Harrington for his hard work and dedication in getting AO Boston off the ground and establishing it as one of AO’s strongest chapters. After 15 years in various leadership roles with AO Boston, Fran decided to step away and focus more on AO Impact, AO’s philanthropy arm. Thanks for everything, Fran – we can’t wait to see what else you will achieve with AO Impact!

Following an election in early March we’re happy to present our new leadership team:

Chris Reid – President
Evan Cipriano – VP
Geno Anderson – Secretary
Tim Atchison – Treasurer

One of the leadership team’s first initiatives is the creation of a new volunteer board that will allow members to get involved in various projects and initiatives. If you’re interested in taking a more active role with the chapter please reach out and we’ll add you to the volunteer board!

If you’re not an active member, this is also the perfect time to sign up again!

Boston Scores Cup – 6/18!

AO Winter Ball may be on a short hiatus from Boston, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be fundraising and volunteering with our close friends Boston SCORES.

SCORES will be hosting the SCORES Cup at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, June 18th, and will be in need of volunteers. We will be organizing a group of AO Boston members to participate – be on the lookout for more details to come soon!  If you are interested or have any questions, please reach out to Chris!

We want YOU! For AO Boston leadership.

All AO Boston members, check your emails! 2022 is going to be quite the year for American soccer fans, and we can not wait to continue to cheer on the Men’s and Women’s National Teams together!  At the end of the month, we will be holding our biannual elections for the four open leadership roles with AO Boston. In addition to this, we would also like to introduce the Volunteer Board.  A Board to assist leadership with the growth of the beautiful game in our city!

Please feel free to nominate yourself or someone else for a leadership position, or the volunteer board, and also select a preferred date for the General Meeting & Election here.  All roles are a two-year commitment.

Please email Chris R. at chris@aoboston.us with any questions.

We would also like to take this time to thank Fran Harrington and Chris Corbin for all of their hard work with AO Boston leadership. Fran founded AO Boston in 2007 and has contributed so much to the Boston soccer community since then. Chris has been part of leadership since 2018 and has been instrumental to the success of AO Boston over the years.  Fran and Chris will continue to support AO Boston on the volunteer board.

#AOBall is coming back!

A gigantic thank you to all that donated in the 2020 fundraiser for #AOIMPACT! It is going to be so exciting to see what comes of this in 2021. AO Boston also claimed the #1 spot with total donations out of all 200+ chapters.

In the end, it was a fierce battle with the members of Lincoln, Nebraska but we pulled away and reclaimed the #AOBall for December of 2021! This will be the biggest Ball yet. Thank you to all. This is just the beginning.

More information about AO Impact can be found here. AO Impact is the philanthropy arm of The American Outlaws. Our mission is to change soccer in America from the ground up, by opening up more opportunities for everyone to play the game. We provide funding for infrastructure and other vital programs at the local level across the country, connecting our network of local chapters and members with projects and partner organizations in their communities.
